Why must they grow up?

Ok so I needed to blog today, only because I need some way of coping with what I am going through!

My babies are growing up!!!!!

When did that happen?  I know that it was just yester-year that I had my beautiful 6lb 5oz 18inch long baby girl, that started kindergarten and then 6th grade, but when did she grow up?!  I am NOT ready for this!!  NO!  I want my baby back!  It isn't fair that they have to grow up and go to high school!

When she started kindergarten she didn't want to let me go.  I had to stay with her most of the day because she was literally attached to my leg.  I thought it was so funny.  Then she got distracted and I ran, out of the room, out of the school, and into my waiting car.  I carried on the rest of the day like nothing was different. <--looking back I should have cried and fought for her to stay by my side.  I didn't though, I knew that she had to go to school and I still had a little one that I needed to care for at home.  She was home soon enough and I took a picture of her getting off of the bus that afternoon! I can't find it so here is one of her and her brother...

She was ok the next year when she went on to 1st grade and so was I.  That is the way it went until she changed schools, but again I still had one that was in Elementary that I could baby so I was ok with it.  Now I am not ok with the fact that she is about to start HIGH SCHOOL!!!

It goes from baby dolls and Barbie dolls to boys and cars!  It all happens so fast that you don't even know that it is happening.  It hasn't hit my husband yet but I am sure that it will when we go to the 'crossing over' ceremony in a couple of weeks.  He will cry!  I will take a photo of it to show him later when he denies it!!

High school is a bad thing in my mind.  High school is where 'things' happen.  Bad things most of the time. You know like driving, dating, parties, so on and so forth.  I know that I am not the only one that this has happened to.  I am sure that my mom went through the same thing when I started high school, and her mom before her and on and on.....

How do you make the panic stop though?  Has anyone figured out how to make them stop growing?  Can you share it with me please!!  I really didn't think that I was going to be one of "those" mom's!!  You know the kind I am talking about.  I am sure you don't wanna be one either.  Just wait, it's coming.

Lord help us all....they are still growing up!!!!  Here is her first day of High School...

Why does this happen to me? ! ? !

So I don't know how many of you know this but my FIL had Dementia and  Alzheimer's and it sucks ass!!!

Today's adventure is as follows...

  1. Wake up
  2. Make coffee
  3. Go potty
  4. Receive a dumpster that I didn't know was coming
  5. Take said FIL to (Job interview that he can't remember where)  <---should be fun
So I woke up just fine.  Slept real good.  Went and let out my kitty so he could run and play with others while I made my coffee...Coffee makes me potty so that was the next step in my day so far.

This is where it gets interesting....

I look out of the living room window and see the dumpster guys pulling into the driveway.  Hum.. I guess that someone ordered a dumpster.  Cool!  Then I see the 'dumpster guy' walking up to my house.

  • Yes can I help you?
  • I need to drop this.
  • Um...ok just get it as close to the house as possible and get it out of the driveway.
Moves the dumpster so it is right up against the pile of house....
  • Ok so I need you to sign for this and I need payment.
  • I don't have payment, I didn't even know it was coming, let me call someone.
So I call the MIL, it goes as follows.
  • Hey the dumpster guys are here, did you know about this?
  • Yea I told (FIL) <---name here....where I wanted it.
  • Um ok well I already had them drop it.
  • No, they are going to have to move it to the area I wanted it
  • Ok, let me give him the phone.
I give him the phone and walk to the house where the FIL is. I knock LOUDLY because he is also hard of hearing.  He hears and comes to the door with a stupid grin on his face and says....
  • Sorry the office is closed, please come back tomorrow.
  • OK, the dumpster guy is here, do you have the money for them?
  • Tell them to come back tomorrow because we are closed.
  • Seriously? !
  • Yes, we reopen tomorrow.
OMG! WTF!  He is at the house not a business for those of you still wondering.

I walk back over and get the phone back and go back into my house.  MIL calls me back and proceeds to tell me that UIL is calling in a CC number. Not to worry about it.  ==p <--gun) (POW)

Oh LAWD!!!  So that is done.  They are gone I am chillin in my house, and there is a knock at my door.  Holy CRAP it is the FIL!!!  WHY ? ! ? !   Well let me tell ya why....
  • Hey are you doing anything today?
  • Um I don't know why?
  • Well I need a ride into town for a job interview.
  • Ok, where?
  • Oh, um, damn, I don't remember....
  • Ok well I guess I can.
  • Ok thanks. (he walks away)
Crap!  What the hell did I just agree to? !? !  Shit!!  Damnit!!!!!!!

I shall let you know what happens later.....D

My Mommy's day experience. . . . . . . . . . . .

Hi y'all....Happy Monday to you!

How was your mommy's day?  Mine was horrid!!  The worst!!  Why well keep reading.....

It started out great, I woke up at around 9ish and sat down and drank my coffee in the peace and quiet of my living room.  I then got up and texted a few people happy mommy's day, called my MIL and my mom to wish them the same.  The kids and the Hubs rose and so we started our day.  I was asked by the hubs what I wanted to do today, -->this crossed my mind (The same thing we do every -mother's day- try and take over the world)  Go to the beach!!!    I want to go to the beach!  So we all got our swim suits on and then #1 strikes....

Bear- Dad I started my period.
         Dad- ok
Bear- the sharks will get me
         Me- (rolls eyes) Let's go!!

We head out after getting what few things we need packed.  (sample) ---> 4 towels, sunscreen (no one used)  nook, phone, sun glasses, and swim trunks for the boys.

Stop at McD's for lunch and we are off.....We get about 20 miles or so from McD's and BOOM traffic!  *sigh*  Ok well it's ok.  I tell the large one that we are not in any hurry so chill!  (noon-ish)

About 2-ish we are still in said traffic and he is flipped his lid about 3 times....*sigh*  Traffic clears and we are off.....We make it to the beach at about 2:30pm, it isn't too full.....Just right......Bear informs her 'daddy' that she has to poop. . . . . WTF!!  We just left town . . . . . We just stopped at a Sonic so I could Pee before we came out to the beach why didn't you go there! ? ! ? !

Me being the parent says "ok lets just take her to the port-a-potty so she can go" because now she has informed me that she needs to change her *clears throat* lady thing too...

My husband on the other hand. . . ."No I will dig a hole and we will shield her because now I have to go too so you can shield me later" W T F ! ! !   "NO!!  WE WILL GO INTO TOWN!!!"

He is digging hole!  I just walked away....*sigh*  Why does this shit happen to me?  <--No pun intended. . . .   did I get an apology?  PFFT NO...  I was pissed at the both because we had 'neighbors' all around us and they know what is going on if someone makes a 'tent' against a truck.  uuggghhghghg!!

OH and to top it off on the way home...yep you guessed it traffic again!!

How was your mommy's day?

My name is Dawna and this is my story...

When I was asked to write this, I didn't have to think twice about it. The first answer that came to mind was absolutely, yes I will, but before I do so, it needs to be said that mental disorders or diseases of the mind are no more shameful than diseases of the heart, the lungs or any other organ of the body. They are just harder to comprehend, even by those of us who suffer from them.
My name is Dawna LeMay and ten years ago I was diagnosed with PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Generalized Anxiety and OCD.
The first thing you need to know, is that I never would have taken the first step to see a psychiatrist to
get a diagnosis if it wasn't for the fact that I had a 4 year old son at the time and it was about 6 weeks after the death of my mother, who I had cared for, for four years. He was doing some silly thing that 4 year olds do and it was just more than I could take at that moment, and I sat on the staircase, literally ripping hair out of my head, crying and repeating, "I hate you, I hate you, I hate you." Words my son doesn't remember, but I will never forget. That even at this moment bring tears to my eyes.

Over the next year I went through extensive therapy, covering everything from sexual abuse by an uncle, a brother and a family friend, to the sometimes abominable way my own mother treated me and disrespected me growing up, causing me to question her love, almost right up until her dying day. An abusive relationship in my teens and a close call in my twenties...the cherry on top being in the position of playing 24 hour caregiver to the woman I still wasn't entirely sure loved me, but was certain that this was the one way of earning that love. Watching her slowly die for 36 months, spending long days in hospitals and longer nights at home struggling with whether I hoped she lived or died. I suppose you can understand where the PTSD comes in now?

Now, put that PTSD on top of some Bipolar. (Which is a condition both of my parents were diagnosed with. My father, back in the day when it was still called "manic depression" and my mother in her early 40's) I was told I was "rapid cycling." If you ask my son what that means, he will tell you that it means: "You'll be having a really funny conversation with her in the kitchen and she'll be making up her hilarious lyrics to songs while she's making dinner and by the time you're finished eating she will be sitting alone and want nothing to do with anyone." Yeah...that's rapid.

I have been out of therapy and off medication for 8 years. A year after my mother passed and I had gotten myself more together, I moved with my son to CT to live with his dad and we finally got married. I weened myself off my meds and thought everything was going to be fine, since I was removed from all the things that were "triggers" for me.

However, over the course of the last several months I had begun to notice myself having less and less of my "highs" and they didn't last as long. My "lows" were coming more often and lasting longer. I was drinking more often (which was a big red flag for me, because I am a BIG TIME self medicator!!) On "Ash Wednesday" I went to the psychiatrist. On "Good Friday" I had my last drink
and on my grandfather's birthday (god rest his soul) I began trying to put my life together once again.
It is very important for people to know that there are so many places out there to get support. With todays technology you just type in the word and you have thousands of links to choose from!

If you suspect that someone you know is in trouble, talk to them, maybe you can encourage them to seek help, or even convince them to talk to their primary care physician who could advise them. Mental illness doesn't just go away over time (as I am finding out). Mental illness is very serious and very seriously overlooked. Many times because there are still so many who attach such a stigma to it.

I was asked if I wanted to post anonymously and I said that anonymity didn't matter to me. Helping matters. I don't care if my name is attached to it or not. But, if it isn't attached, I don't want anyone to think it's out of shame. I am very proud of everything that makes me who I am, including my struggles. Without my struggles, you wouldn't recognize my triumphs. <3

So yeah....

I have something to blog about.....yea yea I know, it's about time....

So a while back I had another blog that I had started when I broke my leg just to talk or vent or whatever. So I had wrote about something that had happened at home...let me recap.

Bear and a friend were over and decided to walk the big dog.  They walked outside with him and the FIL was outside with his 2 puppies on one line and they pulled him over.  He proceeded to yell at Bear and her friend and then the MIL came out to yell some too.  So I posted that and the fact that I was mad about it because it isn't like they did it on purpose and that no one really likes her and that is the reason that the SIL AND BIL don't come by that much. <--  that's it no names no addresses nothing that you would be able to tell who I am speaking about.

A couple of days later I received a email about not wanting to be dragged into our fight and that they didn't appreciate the fact I was talking about family on the internet and a whole bunch of nothing.  So I apologized and deleted the blog. <----DELETED MY BLOG!!!!  Didn't matter they came over the following day and told my MIL to go to the site and not only that....they printed the damn thing out!!!  WTF!!!!

So she wrote me a while back...

Hey ROAORM

Hope you are doing well and your leg is finally healed 100%

I was hoping to talk to you in person but that opportunity has not arisen.  I know a lot of stuff happened last year.  I really hope that we can come to a place where we can enjoy family gatherings and events together.  Life is short and it has it's ups and downs so I hope we can make it an up time again.

We don't have to be best pals or anything but I think we should work at being family because at the end of the day that is what matters and it's important for the kids to see that.

No matter what, know that if y'all needed me, even in bad times, I would be there for you even though the relationship was strained.

Hopefully I will see you at Easter.  We don't have to talk about this anymore unless you want to.

xoxo

I responded with...

I am not sure how to respond.

Back when BIL wrote me that you didn't want your name in on my blog or to be dragged into he middle I said Sorry and deleted the blog. You both responded by deleting and blocking me again. That was uncalled for I think after I had said Sorry and deleted the blog.

I have been avoiding family gatherings because I didn't want to be "shunned" again like I was at Christmas that one year.

I am Sorry but I am still not sure that I Will be going. I Will let someone know.

Thanks

She responded with ....

Thanks for responding.

Just for the record, some actions are not automatically fixed with an I'm sorry unfortunately.  And, deleting a blog does not make everyone forget that it happened.

This was a big one ROAORM.  The FB/social media has gotten out of hand. Just cause we aren't FB friends doesn't mean that we are not family.  This is insane.  We need to live outside of the social media world - especially when it comes to matters related to family.  That time that you were home injured with your leg I think was very hurtful to you and I get it....the computer was the only thing you thought you had. I just think playing out your life on the internet/social media is not healthy for you, your family or the rest of the people in your life/family.

Let's find a way to move forward -- it may take some time, but it can be done.  There are a lot of family things going on like Other BIL and Future SIL wedding, Uncle and Future Aunt wedding, family coming down from Minnesota and Chicago.  We all want you guys to be a part of it.  These times do not come around again.

Hope what I said did not make matters worse.  It was not written with malice or ill will.  It is what I would have told you in person if I had the opportunity.

Have a great day/rest of the week and I hope to see you guys SOON.

And again...

Well I was unaware that anyone other than you two knew about the blog. Like I had said when I wrote BIL back, it had only had a couple views.  HUBS and will be there for the weddings and the family coming down from where ever, but we would like to stay out of all other drama.  Yes, you did hurt me when you all deleted and blocked me from my only way of seeing anything at the time.

Last one...

ROAORM...everyone that was friends with you on FB got the alert to read your blog because the alert came across FB. Neither BIL nor I knew you ever had a blog if it were not for the postings on FB advertising it.  Your blog was tied to FB.  The problem is everyone was reading your blog posts and it sounds like BIL was the only one that said anything after that final blog post.

There are other ways to keep in touch with your family.  If you didn't have a phone you could have emailed or written, come over to the house etc.  Social media is not the only tool to communicate.

With that said, I am happy to hear you will be attending the family functions.  I truly believe it's a step in the right direction.   As far as good news, there really hasn't been any drama at all since this event -- at least that I know of.  No family, friendship, relationship is drama free.  It's all in how you handle it.  You can intensify the fire or you can work to put it out.

If nothing else at least we are communicating and not via FB - Awesome.

You still have my number right?   Here it is just in case you want to talk in person.

Ok so I don't really want to email you what makes you think that I would want to call your ass!!??  *sigh*

So what are your thoughts?  I feel that I am no longer in the wrong after I had apologized and deleted the blog.  It doesn't stop there though!

At Christmas this past year the Hubs and the kids went to their house and was ignored by them.  Their family didn't speak to them.  That is what I didn't want happening, that is the reason that I didn't want to go or to be around them at all.  I never in a million years think that they would treat my kids or husband like that.  They are supposed to be BIG christen people that go to church all of the time and believe in forgiveness but they don't act like a christen person is supposed to act.  I don't know what to think.

Lawd have mercy!!!!

My Child has........Oh so much

Friday Awareness Post From a friend.........

My SON is my 5th pregnancy.  My daughter passed away in1999.  When I found out a was pregnant, I was not excited, I was terrified.  I'd been down this road so many times.

I got prenatal care 3 weeks into this mess, week 6, 7, 8, and 9 went by, and then by week 10 I knew something was wrong!  With my blood working and internal ultrasound they found I had CRV(Toxoplasma gondii)from cat litter and uterine cancer.  The doctor says you need to consider an abortion because the fetus will never make it to term.  Well I said a few choice words and found another doctor. In my first trimester I was being monitored very closely.  Week 18 I started to bleed bad. The doctors gave my son (in utero) Christian shots to develop his lungs right then and there and stopped my labor.  Week 23 my uterus started to descend.  I stayed at a 90 degree slant upside down until week 32 then my water broke!  June 24 @ 6am they gave me a pill to dilate my cervix and every hour they probed me and it was so painful!!  Then at 6pm another pill because apparently even thou I am a larger person I have a small and tilted vagina...go figure.  Around midnight, 18 hours later and I'm only at 2cm...they hook me up to potassin...Then around 2ish Christians heart rate becomes erratic and then flat lines, they unhook me get me ready for emergency surgery when he starts to come around, so they let me be.  6am on the 25th roughly 24 hours later and I am still at 2... so they hook me up to potassin again with the same results.  The doctor schedules a C-section for 10 am. While monitoring my sac fluid.  I got into emergency surgery at 2 pm...got a saddle block (the parts of a patient's body that would touch a saddle if the patient were sitting in one are anesthetized by injecting a local anesthetic into the spinal cord) because they are running out of time.  I'm telling this bitch I feel her cutting, but she doesn't listen!  Then they pulled my baby boy out.  The last thing I remember is telling my biological mom I love her and to takes care of my son.  I knew I was dying. I seized ....fell off the operating table and went into a coma.  2 weeks had past when I woke up...so much more I could tell but this lies the foundation for what plays ahead.......

He was so long and only 4 pounds.  He was my beanpole.

After the feeding tube came out the fun began. 7 formulas until we found alimentum, which is $25 a can and wic only gave us 8 a month...so you figure how many we had to buy.  We were at the doctors weekly because something was wrong.  OK, so again I will cut to the chase cause so much more to tell...Bean had 13 sets of tubes, 3 corrective eye surgeries, tonsils and adenoids out all by the age of 2.  He was doing breathing treatments since he was 3 months old and started singular at 1 year, crushed in applesauce.  He still was mute, so we taught him ASL(American Sign Language) which he still knows.  He hit most of the milestones, but let me tell you, I have video proof lol, he never crawled, he was up and running at 9 months.

By 1 he had already had 4 sets of stitches.  I never "hospital shopped" I always went to same er, even if it was a bump, just to make sure.  CPS showed a few days later, interviewed all my neighbors, they told her they had never seen a more amazing mother, even with all my health problems, (I had had 23 surgeries in my sons first 2 years of life) anyway CPS was there 11 minutes and I was calling 911....bean came running around the corner and hit the staircase head on.  She said ladies case closed, good luck at the hospital!

He was soooooo tall but sooooo behind in weight.  He was on formula until he was 3 1/2.  At 4 years old he reached 30 pounds, his asthma and allergy's were  finally under control, but to this day he dehydrates within minutes.  Oh yeah and when He was 16 months he was completely potty trained.  He wasn't having any part of the diaper thing!

Skip ahead five years, yes bean was placed in preschool and as an educator I could already see developmental milestones not yet met, but I continued to push his verbal skills, so there are no words.  At the end of his kindergarten year sight words and reading were average, geography and science soaring above average, so what's left, math and communication skills didn't exist so I decided to hold him back.  The next year seemed to zoom by, he had caught up for the most part but he still was behind in math and communication, worst of all he had gotten to make one friend, then it happened I got sick.

6 months I was gone, and my baby had been bounced between our home and his grandparents.  So much more to tell but not enough time.  When I returned home from the nursing home everything had changed, Christian had relapsed in his studies, social and emotional skills were gone and my baby, who I fought so hard for, for 7 years, was unrecognizable to me.  Cruel and disrespectful, didn't give a damn about anything, not even school anymore.
No one saw this?   No one told me, was everyone that ignorant.....really?  I know what you are thinking...why didn't I see, simple I had sepsis, I wasn't allowed visitors, I was contagious and he already had enough medical issues.  We talked everyday but obviously it wasn't enough.  School personnel said "He doesn't focus on his studies"  "He refuses to participate in the extra studies program I placed him in"  "He bounces of the wall, gets distracted easily, focuses on something and than obsesses"  "what social/emotional skills he had were gone"  I decided to seek help for him for us for everyone.  16 hours of testing, while starting individual therapy, and parents child interaction therapy each one weekly still to this day.  He has been clinically, legally, diagnosed with PTSD Severe OCD and ODD...ADHD and Asperger's moderate on the autistic spectrum of social/emotional disorders, basically a got mess and long ass road ahead.

We tried Adderall and his poor tummy oh it was bad, so that was only 3 days.  I let a month go by and we tried Focalin.  Um, yeah, no that was a week trial period and I pulled him off.  He was aggressive and beat the hell out of me with a broom after I came home from surgery.  Destroyed and broke everything, and I mean everything, I did have a lock down in someway....I was done with this.

Another month went by and he was struggling in school and getting beat up almost daily for being different, so I put him in a program called trauma focus day treatment and education.  They were lacking in educating these kids but were fantastic in coping with all kinds of issues and social skills.  You name it they did it.  Meanwhile we tried the Daytona patch....again no...if he actually kept in on.  He was an emotional mess and if you looked at him wrong he would cry.  He was going great in day treatment, but I started to get concerned, he again was falling behind educationally, so I pushed to get his meds regulated, we tried conserta, a month went by with a very slight improvement, increased the dose, 2 months later or little more so we increased the dose and nothing changed, we increased the dose to max for his weight but still one more level, We couldn't touch so I did about one month worth of research on intutiv and asked  his doctor what she thought.  She thought that he was a little better but I knew that around Christmas time I wanted him in a real school, but in his "special" environment he needs I knew what I had to do.

Funny, because, later that day I got a phone call saying Christian is am amazing child and was more than ready to graduate from the program than most seniors who get aged out, fastest child to ever complete the program!!
My baby did it and WE as a school and as a family celebrated for a whole week, anything he wanted to do we did, in this time conserta and intutiv still seemed to be worn off my noon.  We could not even do a fire drill at home because 3 pm was to late for him....He was more concerned about how the fire extinguisher worked, the a b c meaning, blah blah blah.  I continued to make phone calls to a private school that some of my own students had transferred to, and got him am interview. I wanted them to see him at his worst so there were no surprises so we went in the afternoon; more testing and monitored social interaction.  Guess what? My SON, was accepted as a student for the upcoming new school year.  He is in transition now slowly until we continue to tweak his meds and continue therapy twice a week.  We have recently added a very small dose of Ritalin at noon, no noticeable changes or effects but its only day 3, I have not really talked about home life because each day is different.  Do I believe in sun down syndrome hell yes....full moon effects hell yes...is the weather making him more hyper or more down...hell yes...do we argue....hell yes...do we play...hell yes....do we need space from each other...hell yes but you know the best question asked....DO WE TEACH AND LEARN FROM EACH OTHER....HELL YES.

Because no matter how sick I am....I fought with all my might to bring my special angel into this world and I will crush any disease or human who stands in his way to becoming an extraordinary person....

He forever will be my beanpole.

Me and nothing...

I know that I have been neglecting this blog, but I have nothing to write about.

There is no change in what the Horse Bitch is doing other than since she has been feeding, sometimes they get fed and sometimes they don't.  It is sad really and there isn't anything at this moment that we can do.  If we call the SPCA we will have to have proof that they are neglecting their animals and the only thing we can do is take photo's and note things, but then we run into the problem of them saying that we are lying or we are doing it to our own and blaming them.  I don't know what to do.

Do any of you know anyone that has been through this?  Can you give me some pointers?

In other news.  I have decided to give y'all a little back story on me!  Yay you!

You all know that I am a mom, a wife, a daughter, and all of that family jazz...  Here is what you may not know.  I am a daughter of a man that is in prison.  He is in there for life for killing a man.  He has been in there since I was 14-15.  I was raised by my mom.  I was NOT a good kid.  Not even a little after I hit puberty.  I was wild because I didn't have that iron fist to bring me in anymore. I have a very fiery personality.  I can be vicious at times.  I guard my kids with my life.  I am alive because of my kids.  I believe that if it wasn't for them I would have most likely killed myself either on purpose or by accident.  I am a good person.  I will try to help you in any way that I can until you upset me.  You get three chances with me.  After the first I will not trust you any more but will still try and help.

I don't want anyone's pity or sorrow over my life there are many others out there that are worse off than me.  I am not trash but I do live in a mobile home.  I respect my Mother in law but at times I really don't like her.

I had my daughter at the age of 17.  <--wild side.....  I have raised her with the help of my husband.  We have both been on drugs in the past and have both overcame it.  That doesn't mean that we can't relapse because it is always a possibility, but we together strive not to.

As a teenager I have been a very mean and hateful person.  If I could connect with the people that I was mean to I would apologize.  I was young and stupid.  I have several epiphany's a day, most I don't act on....hehe......   I will refuse help if I think I can do it myself.  <--that is a flaw of mine.

If you have any questions about me ask!
